Ilse Velazquez Flores Saw this band live for the first time last night in Richmond and was completely awestruck. Every single song on their set was perfection. I didn't have much cash on me that night though but I immediately bought their record the next morning. No regrets! Favorite track: Protection.

Art Fin I love this gloomy post punk band from Cleveland influenced by Siouxsie, Joy Division and Bauhaus. Compared to Negative Scanner and Savages, this band's anger is less sharp, muted by grief. Nonconformist but genius singer Haley Morris' tortured vocals and stage presence remind me of Ian Curtis. She sings with a sometimes indecipherable keening moan, using her emotive voice as an instrument over tense guitars, throbbing bass and slapping drums. www.youtube.com/watch?v=1aEclRhZ0Bo Favorite track: Protection.
